Course description:
Steel is a material that can both stand on its own and conform to accommodate other elements. After salvaging, observing, and experimenting with found objects and materials, students will incorporate steel fabrication to create a series of three-dimensional pieces. Metalworking techniques such as forming and welding will be demonstrated and utilized, in addition to other skills and interests the students bring to the table. Expect to be affected by each others' work and prepare to adapt to unpredictable circumstances. This class explores the process of creative production, so the overall experience is an important component to the stuff we come away with in the end.
